Caring for your Pregnant Cat

litter of kittensYour pet cat maybe the cutest cuddle option, but when she's just given birth to a litter, there's special care to be taken. Cats like to do things in secrecy, and the same goes for giving birth. As such, if you know it's time, make sure she can't go out of the house. Let her have a safe corner where she can give birth without feeling threatened.

At the time she's giving birth, make sure you have a new pair of scissors sterilized and handy. This may be useful if she has difficulty severing an umbilical cord. This is important because if she gets stuck with one baby, it could delay the next baby's birth resulting in a still born kitten. Make sure you do not touch the kittens as they are very sensitive and cold at this time.
